Dear Readers,
We enjoy watching the Beijing Olympics Games which is currently in full swing. Only three best competitors win the medals. What about all the others who had spent many months in hard training to prepare for the major event? No doubt they were disappointed but some not giving up, may make another attempt at the next Olympic Games in four years time.
We are reminded by Paul’s encouragement to the early Christians in the face of their severe persecutions and trials to press on toward the prize which the Lord has in store for them. The difference is that there will be neither Gold, nor Silver nor Bronze medals but the Lord will reward those richly if they have not given up in the race. The point here is that it is not important that you finish first to obtain a Gold medal but to endure to the end of your life regardless the
failures or mistakes you may have made in the course.
There are many verses in the Bible that give support to this. “I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus.”
Phil. 3 : 14
“Happy are those who remain faithful under trials, because when they succeed in passing such a test, they will receive as their reward the life which God has promised to those who love him.” James 1 : 12 GNB
“So let us not become tired of doing good; for if we do not give up, the time will come when we will reap the harvest.” Gal. 6 : 9 GNB
Remember life on earth is very short when compared with long eternity; it
is worthwhile to endure the race with patience with your eyes focused on the
imperishable prizes that await you at the finish line. You will hear Jesus Christ’s comment on your successful finish, “Well done, you good and faithful servant (runner).” Matthew 25 : 21
May God bless you and encourage you in the race of your life!
