2nd Deaf Christian Conference "Eksderde Bushveld Camp"
Wow! The camp was very blessed! The camp is beautifully situated in the bushveld 30 kms north-east of Pretoria, hemmed in by surrounding wild bush and thorn trees and different kinds of buck, e.g. kudu and wildebeest (gnus). Tame rabbits romped and even a tame zebra roamed on the campsite. We were blessed with a beautiful weather.

5th National Deaf Conference Leadership Camp
5th National Deaf Conference, Leadership Camp was held at Umlazi, 35 kms from Durban Kwa-Zulu Natal for 5 days (28th December 2003 - 2nd January 2004). The place, where we stayed, is beautiful with a nice view of Mango- suthu Student Technikon. It is similar to the streets of Soweto, teeming with people, taxi's and buses. Taxi's passed 450 m from us to and fro playing loud music but we heard nothing.

Ministry to Qwa-Qwa
My family and I went to Thiboloha School for the Deaf in Phuthatitjhaba, Qwa-Qwa in Free State for the long weekend of 1 - 4 May 2003. The school is situated by the beautiful mountain. The Deaf welcomed us warmly there.

Cornerstone Church in Bedfordview
Taryn Bakker and I, Bianca Bouffé, have just come back from an amazing and challenging six months in Europe. We started this year with doing Life Team at Cornerstone Church. Part of the vision of the Team is to have a heart for the nations and so we, under the covering of Cornerstone, visited churches in Italy, England, Holland, Ireland and Portugal, serving them in any way we could.

The Fireplace Church in Germiston - 13 October 2003
The Fireplace Church celebrated her 1st birthday on 13th October 2003. The celebration was held at Colin Mann School, Lambton, Germiston on a very cold and rainy day on 19th October, giving our praises and thanks to our God for His goodness and faithfulness.

Ministry to the Cape
We, Sias Craig (HoH) and I, have decided to travel to George (town in Western Cape) to evangelise to the Deaf community from 17 - 20 October 2003. The distance from Gauteng to George is 1,266 km. We went through Colesberg to Graaff-Reinet and on the way we saw the snow on Lootsberg Pass.

Abé and Vanessa Vos, hearing elders of The Fireplace Church, organised a weekend camp from 13th to 15th June away at Youth for Christ in Hekpoort. The purpose for the camp was for relationship and friendship-building as we were a 8 month old church.

Breakthru Church in Boksburg
Covenant Life Church in Benoni planted Breakthru Church in the south of Boksburg two years ago. Steve and Jenny Duff (H) are the elders. The service was held in a Girl-Guide Hall on Sunday evening.

Alpha Course News
Alpha Course was run for 15 weeks from 7th February till 6th June 2003 - 10 - 12 Deaf people and a hearing son attended at Wendy Gouvea's home every Friday evenings. On Saturday, 7th we celebrated the end of Alpha Course by having breakfast together at Zoe Christian Coffee Shop in Boksburg.

Deaf Ministry in Rustenburg
After much prayers and preparations, on the 26 th June 2004 our group (Frank, Sheri, Kim, Inge and Paulo) went up to Rustenburg, at the Rustenburg Deaf Association meeting at Mike's home in Tlhabane. We met quite lot of Deaf people there.

Community Get-Together was held in the hall of The House - only 13 Deafies came but on 20 November 31 Deafies from different churches all over Gauteng, including Pretoria , came. It was a good time of service and fellowship.

Ireland visited to South Africa
Last October, we became aware of direct air-flights from Dublin to Cape Town commencing in December, so we felt that it was the right time to travel to South Africa – for our holiday and for researching on the founder of the Claremont Institution, the first school for the deaf in Ireland – Dr Orpen, who had emigrated to South Africa in 1848.

Tim West (H) (20) came to South Africa from Stevens Point , Wisconsin , USA in the beginning of this year (2004) as a Life Team member of the Cornerstone Church in Bedfordview for a year.
Marcus Daniels (D) (22) from Syracuse , New York State, USA came to South Africa for 2 months from 16 June - 16 Aug 2004.

Our holiday to NZ and OZ
On 3rd June we flew out to New Zealand with Reggie & Elizabeth Amond (D).Trevor & Anita Petersen (D) met us at the airport. Early next morning (5th) Trevor and Anita had a good plan to take us in a hired combi to Rotuaro and Taupo.
