Alpha Course was run for 15 weeks from 7th February till 6th June 2003 - 10 - 12 Deaf people and a hearing son attended at Wendy Gouvea’s home every Friday evenings. On Saturday, 7th we celebrated the end of Alpha Course by having breakfast together at Zoe Christian Coffee Shop in Boksburg.

Few Years back our son Michael (H) went to Alpha Course. He told us that it was so good that he learnt a lot. It also helped him to understand clearly and he is so happy that he knows who Jesus is. That time he went, we could not go because there were no subtitles or interpreters available.

A few years later we heard that the videos of Alpha Course have subtitles for the Deaf. (Paulo Pinto (D) got them from UK.) We were excited when the course started. It lasted for 15 weeks. We met on Friday nights.  We benefited greatly from the wonderful course. The course can be used for any kind of church. The teachings about ‘Who is Jesus?, Why did Jesus die? and what about the church?’, etc. were excellent with the help of the subtitles. Hallelujah!

It touched our hearts and we want to encourage the others to go as well.  After the course we had a good fellowship before we went home. We want to thank those who organised the course and Wendy Gouvea (D) for the use of her house.  Now we are so excited that we heard that our daughter Debbie (H) also wants to go to Alpha Course.

When I attended the Alpha Course it was really exciting to watch it every week but when it ended, I was disappointed because I really enjoyed it. Praise be to God and Jesus Christ and Holy Spirit!

About 2 months ago was the last meeting for the Alpha Course. A few Deaf people met at my house every Friday to watch Alpha Course, preached by Nicky Gumble. It was simple to understand because of subtitles and I learnt a lot. Someone once told me that it is made up by a man. Even if it’s spoken by a man, it is obviously inspired by the Holy Spirit! I enjoyed every episode.

Thank you very much for the Alpha Course and it is very good. We like this Alpha Course as we know who Son of God is but we want to learn more about Jesus Christ. The Word of God is easy from the Bible so that we can teach the other Deaf about Jesus, who Jesus Christ is, who to trust in God. We are very happy - Praise the Lord!
