Deaf Coffee Bar Ministry - Johannesburg

Phumie Jemane's ministryMy family and I went to Thiboloha School for the Deaf in Phuthatitjhaba, Qwa-Qwa in Free State for the long weekend of 1 - 4 May 2003. The school is situated by the beautiful mountain. The Deaf welcomed us warmly there.

On Friday morning we visited different school pupils and adults. Few deaf adults assist the teachers and hostel mothers. They also help out with office work. Some people said that it is so close to Lesotho that someone could walk through the mountain into Lesotho without passport!

On Friday night we had fellowship and they were surprised with what I shared God’s Word with them. The hearing pastor wife from Kenya was happy to see me sharing His Words. She said that many times she explained to them but it was hard for them to accept her because she is hearing. They said to her that she was lucky to be hearing and that some deaf people cannot preach like I did. And now they are aware that there is no difference between hearing and deaf and that God can use any people who trust in Him.

On Saturday we had a free time. At night we had a braai (barbeque). After that we had fellowship again. They sang and danced and gave a drama. They were excited to see me because they saw me as a TV presenter. I told them that I came with God’s Word not through TV. God has a plan already for my life and He uses me to share His Word.

After Sunday morning service the deputy principal came to see me, also surprised that I could preach.  Praise the Lord!  Nothing is impossible with God and the Deaf can preach, share and give God’s Word. They asked us to come again.
