1 November, 2009, was a day of great joy as 8 Deaf students from
Filadelfia Secondary School in
Soshanguve (outside Pretoria) showed their faith in, and obedience to, the Lord Jesus Christ by being baptized. In 2009, the Lord opened a door for Hermanus and Chantalle Engelbrecht (D) and Elsabé de Lange (HoH) (Deo Gloria Gemeente vir die Dowes, Pretoria), Bogumil and Inge Gieros (Deaf New Life Church West, Roodepoort) and Frank (H) and Sheri (D) Moran (American Baptist missionaries, Johannesburg and Soweto) to the school hostel to teach God’s Word to 60 Deaf students.
Each of the 3 teams went to the school one Sunday a month to
worship with the students and use
Bible storying and drama to teach the students the Scriptures. The students have been eager to learn each time they meet. Some students learned each story and could tell their friends and review it in the next meeting.
Please pray that God’s Word will
continue to grow and produce fruit in the lives of these students (up to 80 this year!). Also pray that others will join in this work so that these
students can learn God’s Word every Sunday.
