Qwa Qwa Deaf Christian Church - Free State

Greetings in the wonderful Name of our Lord Jesus Christ!

This is February 2010, the 2nd month of the year already! How time flies! Before we blink our eyes, we will be with Jesus Christ in the heavenly places! Everyone even the sinners of the world knew that the end is soon to come. Fortunately, Paul admonished us to endure until the end as he wrote to Timothy in 2 Tim. 4 : 7-8 “I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race. I have kept the faith. Finally there is laid up for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will give to me on that Day, and not to me only but also to all who have loved His appearing.”

We are committed to this verse and it’s so exciting especially the last verse which encourages to reach out more to the lost Deaf souls for Christ Jesus so they can taste His glory. This is a calling which the Lord has placed on our hearts to move to Qwa Qwa to a Deaf Christian Church at Phuthaditjhaba (Witsieshoek). We have been here for 4 weeks and have settled down well. There are Deaf adults and Deaf schoolchildren who are hungry for the spiritual message. We found our sign language from Worcester differs from those here but with much grace from our Lord we are able to adapt to it.

After our safe arrival on the 10th January 2010, we were warmly welcomed by a group of Adult Deaf at our flat. It was wonderful! We had a busy week, beginning with:

  • A meeting with the personnel at the Deaf School and also with the Deaf adults.
  • Hennie and Ria BurgerOn the 23rd January I gave my first sermon - the attendance was great and we were thrilled to meet friends from DCMA (Deaf Christian Ministry Africa) from Worcester and Deo Gloria Deaf Church from Pretoria.
  • Every Sunday morning we have 2 church services for 2 different groups.
  • Every Wednesday evening, 4 Adult Deaf lead a Bible Study with 4 groups of deaf children at the boarding school.
  • On Thursday afternoons I lead the Adult Deaf.

The following week we will be moving into my new office which has been specially prepared for counselling and meetings. It’s exciting to see these precious Deaf preparing to help us adapt to this strange world as all our families, friends and children were left behind at Worcester and in the vicinity of the Cape, but in our hearts we knew prayer went up for protection, leading and comfort. May the Lord lead us further to do His Will. For this reason we need earnest prayer. We also need supporting the form of supplying clothes, shoes and toys that are in good condition for the Deaf children so that they may taste the joy of the Lord!
