The verse is found in the Bible that brings God's promise to us that He is
always with His people through our good and bad times. One favourite verse: Hebrews 13 : 5 reminds me "… For God has said, "I will never leave you; I will never forsake you." Let us be bold, then, and say, "The Lord is my helper,
I will not be afraid."
One late afternoon at about 6.15 pm on 14 March 2011, a stranger called on my cell phone, my daughter Samantha (H)(13) normally did not answer the stranger's
number on my cell phone, but this time she answered and heard an alarming background noise and voice saying that my son, Andrew (D)(19), was involved in a taxi accident on Empire Road, Jo'burg. He caught a taxi on the way home from the Wits University where he studies
English on Mondays and Fridays.
My heart sank and I was shocked at what had happened to Andrew but thanks be to our God that he was okay (because of my difficult situation I went through lately). The stranger confirmed that Andrew was okay. I drove down with Samantha and found a crowd of people and flashing lights of the ambulances. I saw about ten injured sitting and lying on the pavement. My eye caught Andrew sitting on the
pavement ledge with his knee in bandage. He looked calm in spite of the pain, with his friend, Sibongile (D)(19) who also went with him. She was mildly injured and had a sore shoulder.
We and the people were concerned because Andrew was thrown out of the window and landed on the side of the road. Thankfully there were no oncoming cars so he stood up and walked slowly to the pavement. A paramedic put him onto the stretcher with neck brace. The ambulance rushed him to Milpark Hospital nearby. The helpful nurses and a doctor examined and cleaned the ugly wounds. X-rays were taken. I thanked the Lord Jesus for saving him as no broken bones showed on the films, just broken pieces of glass from the smashed window. They were removed from the wounds. The doctor stitched up, altogether with about 24 stitches on his knees, arms, elbow, legs and back.
Praise the name of Jesus Christ for
protecting Andrew. He recovered very well.
